There must be hundreds, if not thousands, of places in Sicily where you can sip a glass of Zibibbo wine as you nibble on traditional sesame biscuits, or other specialities of some local master backer, but there's only one where at the same time you are 60 feet underground in a cave made of lava!

Catania is one of the big Sicilian towns which has incomparable privileges of tourist centre both for the winter and summer activities. Its artistic and monumental heritage, the architectonic remains of the Greek and Roman period and the Norman Monuments, are very rare and well preserved.

Sicily is the largest and most important island in the Mediterranean. Sicilian history, from the Greeks and Romans Age up to the era of Spanish rule, live in its aristocratic and popular traditions, from medieval-style equestrian tournaments to colorful and devoted folk festivals.

Mount Etna is an active stratovolcano on the east coast of Sicily, close to Messina and Catania. It is the second largest active volcano in Europe. An impressive and disturbing presence of which all the people of Catania, while feeling the threat, are proud now and so were in the past.
